(Genealogy of the concept of securitization in international relations)

Abstract: Understanding securitization as an introduced and accepted entry in today's political science literature requires genealogy. Since the First World War, the international environment has had a new dynamism in competitive relations between states, which over time have found diverse and new forms. After World War II and especially after the end of the Cold War, securitization has been one of the updated methods in seeking priority for actors whose interests do not fall within the prioritization of conventional political logic and therefore needed to introduce a kind of existential threat to themselves.

What we have witnessed from the behavior of the Israeli regime after World War II has always been accompanied by a kind of securitization of the other side, under which it can change the priorities of "normal politics" around itself. Although the other side has changed with the passage of time and other factors, the approach of this regime in this regard has remained similar. In the present study, we will study the concept and examples of this approach, focusing on Iran's security strategy in the past three decades and other cases, and accordingly, we will explain the basis of the cognitive challenge that could potentially lead to this trap.
