We do not know what happened behind the scenes, but at least we can say that the main winner of this war was America; Russia is stuck in a quagmire between glory and nothingness, Europe has once again been forced to accept the hegemony of the United States more than ever, China and developing countries have been forced to buy expensive energy, and China's growth, if not curbed, has been delayed. However, the United States has been able to enhance its various aspects, whether by becoming more energy-efficient and improving its economic position, by leading the competition with China, by curbing and somehow humiliating Russia, or by dominating Europe more. Of course, this is not far-fetched with the presence of a Russologist and experienced person like William Burns at the head of the CIA.
He continued: However, in another situation, namely the issue of Taiwan and Nancy Pelosi's trip, which was intended to provoke Beijing to the maximum, it can be said that China's intelligence prevented this country from falling into the trap that Russia is caught in. Also, in the Middle East, the US relationship with Saudi Arabia is strategic, and as much as the US leans towards Southeast Asia, Saudi Arabia does not see itself as being bound to be exclusive to the US front because there is basically no front, and this kind of attitude of the 20th century and the Cold War has disappeared, and the closeness of China and Saudi Arabia itself is proof of this meaning.
He added: Also, on the Iranian nuclear issue, it seems that instead of returning to the agreement, the Biden administration has become more self-sufficient and now no longer sees a definite need to revive the JCPOA. Overall, the current situation in international relations was the best arrangement that the US could have had, and from this perspective, a good success can be attributed to the US foreign policy apparatus in 2022.
This US affairs analyst said: I think that considering the performance of 2022, the US government has a good position in international politics and its challenges will not be related to the urgent foreign issues that will be the subject of the coming year. The chronic and major foreign policy challenges for the United States are the same as they were before last year and will be after the coming year, but in the coming year, there is no fundamental issue in foreign policy that specifically threatens the United States.
He continued: Therefore, the main effort of the United States will be to continue the same axes as mentioned; containing China, limiting Russia and turning it into a regional rather than global player as much as possible, and stabilizing this meaning, competition in the economy and energy. The US government benefits from a good arrangement in intelligence and foreign policy issues, and this stability in the situation, unlike the era of Donald Trump, was not far from expected. What will take up most of the energy of the Biden administration in the new year will be issues related to the economy and domestic policy for the Chinese context of the next presidential election.
