He added: What has been added to the equations behind Iran’s foreign policy in various dimensions, including the negotiations to revive the JCPOA, are the domestic issues of Iran and the domestic issues of the United States, and it is clear that the correct political position is to deny such influence and connection. But the reality is that, first of all, the midterm elections in the United States are coming up, and therefore, the increase in the sensitivity of public opinion in this country and through its coefficient of influence on the decisions of the Biden administration is a forced and certain thing. On the other hand, the unstable domestic conditions in Iran are putting this sensitivity of public opinion in the United States with great pressure on the Biden administration, which, at least if it is now about continuing the negotiations, will express it in various ways. As we have seen, they will face deep and unforeseen challenges in gray public opinion, as well as great pressure from Republican rivals. Therefore, it is natural that Mr. Robert Malley, who has poured oil on the negotiations in a coma, will offer himself as an offering to Imamzadeh and at least try not to expose himself to further criticism from the rival party.
Karimi added: "As for the military option, I do not take it seriously at the moment and it is merely a boast. Of course, we do not need sophisticated political knowledge to be able to be sure that the loss of national cohesion will reduce our deterrent power against threats of all kinds." In response to the question of how he analyzes the pressures that have been exerted on the likes of Robert Malley, Nayak, and anti-war forces in the past month to stop trying to reach a conclusion to the JCPOA, he said: "There have always been various pressures from the Arab and Israeli lobbies, as well as Republican rivals, on relatively moderate or non-extremist groups and individuals. Especially when the situation becomes tense, anyone who does not prioritize extremism is an "open middle" and has allowed himself these kinds of attributes. But the reality is that ahead of the groups and countries mentioned, there are some activists outside the country who are constantly pressuring all sides to join their extremism.
He added: The idea behind all extremist tendencies on all sides is to close any possibility of advancing a non-violent space for action to de-escalate tensions. In fact, extremists on all sides thrive on the radicalization of conditions. The revival of the JCPOA as an agreement that leads to a relative economic opening and Iran’s exit from the isolation of effective unilateral sanctions is one of the most prominent ways that, in addition to improving economic conditions and so on, also creates hope. Therefore, the extremists who seek to increase the pressure of this system will never agree with such an option and as a result, they will do their best to pressure the forces and lobbies that are at least looking for middle solutions to reduce the tension between Iran and the United States.
He clarified: The issues you mentioned are among these, which are of course not without effect, and considering the answer to the previous question (i.e. the sensitivity of American public opinion on the eve of the mid-term parliamentary elections), it increases the cost of pursuing negotiations to revive the JCPOA for the American team headed by Mr. Robert Malley.
In response to the question of whether there is an idea that American Republicans are seeking to harm Democratic rivals in cooperation with subversives and what results this behavior will lead to in the future, Karimi said: In politics, there is always an effort to carry out homogeneous and aligned actions so that efficiency can be improved by reducing costs. American Republicans will currently make their greatest effort to raise the cost of seeking an agreement for Democrats, but this does not mean that they are completely indifferent to developments.
He added: "In addition, some political activists abroad are not ineffective in shaping and solidifying the image of "appropriate action with Iran" in the minds of Republicans, and their persuasive power works well in a wrong direction that may lead to more threats, isolation, and even inconclusive military tension."
Karimi said: "Ultimately, it seems that we should remove the excuse for such manipulations from them by eliminating the shortcomings of Iranian domestic politics and society. At least our history is full of the results of such approaches by dependent political currents that ultimately end up to the detriment of national interests, and the only cure for this pain is national cohesion through moderation and dialogue."
The professor of world studies at the University of Tehran said: Basically, playing in the field of American domestic politics is unsuccessful, and falling prey to the politics of Iran for the competition between the two main tendencies in America will have a forced result. This is beneath the dignity of any politician who wants to play in the field of national interests and advance his position. It seems that this kind of instrumental use of some Iranian political activists is something that turns the politics of an individual or a group he belongs to, at most, into a card in the hands of real political currents, for example in America.
