In an interview with Iran 24 News Network’s political correspondent, Sasan Karimi, in response to the question of what factors do you think could determine the role of the Agency in future negotiations, given Rafael Grossi’s meeting with the Italian Foreign Minister and the Iranian Foreign Minister’s emphasis that it is not yet the right time for the International Atomic Energy Agency to enter the negotiations, said: This is because the parts related to the Agency are of two types.

He continued: First, the safeguards part, which is related to Iran’s customary obligations. Iran has been loyal in this regard and it is not very relevant; that is, Iran’s hands are more open in terms of safeguards, which we talk about a lot.

Karimi added: "Second, the issue of JCPOA monitoring is not yet clear, meaning there is no agreement on whether Iran is going to accept the JCPOA restrictions or not, and whether the IAEA is going to comment on this or apply other protocols and arrangements."

The international relations analyst stated: "Therefore, the second issue is related to the technical and expert part, which starts on Wednesday, and it must be determined what combinations are needed and what points should be accepted in terms of technical restrictions and monitoring; whether this is in line with the JCPOA or similar to it, or is there a gap."

He continued: "When it is clear that the IAEA will provide its presence as an effective observer, this is when we can talk about the JCPOA commitments. Now, Iran has not entered into the JCPOA commitments in the recent negotiations and is not ready to talk about whether it has fulfilled its commitments or not; because the United States has withdrawn from the agreement and therefore Iran is not obliged to answer for that matter. At this stage, the IAEA Director General is being questioned."

* The presence of the International Atomic Energy Agency after the agreement makes sense
This international affairs expert said regarding the presence of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the negotiations: The Agency's presence in monitoring after the agreement makes sense, but at the moment its presence can only play a destructive role and not a helpful or constructive role.

He added: It may present a comprehensive negative report that will be provocative and will increase the demands of the United States excessively, anger the Europeans and provoke Israel to new actions; that is, by presenting a negative report on Iran's nuclear activities by the Agency, it will have a negative impact. But it will not be more than that.
